Painting a child’s soft face or the soft folds of aged skin brings me joy as an artist. When I paint portraiture it’s as if I am actually touching my subject’s skin. I feel like I’m inside their skin. My goal is to capture true likeness while bringing light and color to skin tones by exaggerating the reflection of the subject’s surroundings. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing my subject’s eyes widen with recognition of themselves. There is nothing more satisfying then capturing a moment of time, a special occasion or the essence of a personality.
